PRADA opens a new Shop in Zurich

Milan, 22 July 2016

Prada establishes a commanding presence in Zurich with a new boutique on the legendary Bahnhofstrasse; one of the most exclusive shopping enclaves in Switzerland. The new space covers a total area of approximately 1,100 square meters over three floors and offers collections for both men and women. In design, Prada sought to combine the strength of its own heritage with a dynamic evolution of style and technology. Borsani chairs evoke classic Italian design while a sleek black marble façade and rhythmic composition of windows harmonize with the architectural elements of the existing building. The iconic checkerboard motif is reinterpreted through the use of accentuated color schemes.

Expansive video walls, green ceiling beams, floors laid with yellow and white geometric patterns and green Alpine marble accents enhance furnishings and spaces. The ground floor is dedicated to leathergoods, accessories and women’s footwear. The first floor is exclusive to women’s collections and offers very intimate spaces for Made to Order services. The second floor, dedicated to the men’s collections and Made to Measure, is characterized by more masculine colors, furnishings and geometric elements.

The rooms

The first space features walls covered in watercolored canvas, highlighted by an intense green, a black and white marble checkerboard floor, glass display cases with green Alpine marble shelves, and beamed ceilings in Prada green; offering a modern interpretation of ceilings found in historic Italian architecture. A series of doorways framed in green marble lead to the adjacent rooms. Walls in subtly hued canvas and green marble shelving accent the spaces dedicated to leather goods and women’s accessories. Light blades of plexiglas characterize the areas for women’s wear. Chairs in green and red velvet provide a welcoming touch to the environment.

Bold colors define the rooms dedicated to footwear: watercolored canvas walls are saturated with emerald green and turquoise. The same vibrancy is found within the display shelves and upholstered chairs. A video screen on the back wall of the last room serves as a window into a new dimension. On the first floor, the women’s wear collections are revealed in a space that continues the themes of the ground floor. The main space opens up into smaller environments with different personalities. White and ochre floors with geometric patterns and delicately nuanced walls are accented by arrangements of velvet chairs and glass end tables. The spaces have a sensual and feminine energy.

With continued focus on customer service and a dynamic retail experience, the Bahnhofstrasse boutique establishes a very intimate environment where taste and comfort are paramount. Made to Order services are offered in lounges and niches clad in ochre velvet, walls in green satin and velvet curtains that frame the windows overlooking the city. The men’s collections are presented in a space distinguished by a series of strongly masculine elements: hardwood floors, walls in subtle grey-blue paint, dark wood shelves and display platforms and benches in wood upholstered in grey velvet. Iron furniture and steel benches, chairs in grey-blue velvet and carpeting with geometric patterns give the space elegance and character.
