WHEN IN ST. MORITZ

The ski season has started and St. Moritz is one of those special places where you have to go at least once.
The view over the snow-covered roofs and pines is magical, a view you won’t soon forget when you’re on the balcony of the Carlton Hotel in St. Moritz.
But this is just a small detail of what awaits you when you visit this place.

Luxury confesses its colours
Exclusivity and privacy are the components of the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz, which is open for the winter season from the beginning of December to the end of March. The luxurious five-star hotel beguiles all the senses with an extravagant world of colours, culinary delights of the highest standard and a generosity that is second to none.

It can be felt in many details that the Carlton Hotel, built in 1913, is characterised by a historic character worthy of preservation. With the total renovation in 2007, which took over the outer silhouette identically, the historical values are visible, interpreted in a contemporary way and implemented in a modern way. The carefully conceived renovation combines the new with the enduring in an excellent way. The representative staircase, the stucco decoration on the ceilings of the ballroom and the historic stone walls in various parts of the building are still reminiscent of the glorious times at the beginning of the 20th century. And in the interior design, the Swiss interior designer Carlo Rampazzi combined antique furniture with a modern variety of colours, giving the house its very own unconventional character.

As a member of the Tschuggen Hotel Group, the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz has been completely climate neutral since 2019. Together with the Swiss organisation myclimate, the hotel group’s CO2 emissions were calculated. Based on this, various measures were then introduced to minimise the ecological footprint. The measures are rounded off by the support of various carbon offset projects that compensate for the unavoidable CO2 emissions.

The Suites
The 60 spacious junior suites and suites of the five-star hotel start from a size of 45 m2 and offer, in addition to the extraordinary variety of colours, the highest level of comfort as well as state-of-the-art technology. All are south-facing with a view of Lake St. Moritz and have balconies or terraces that provide a heavenly box seat for numerous top events on site, such as the Snow Polo World Cup  or the world famous White Turf.

The Carlton Penthouse, the largest suite in St. Moritz, extends to 386 m2 with three spacious bedrooms with individual bathrooms, an open-plan living and dining area with fireplace, a kitchen and five terraces with panoramic views over the high valley. The public areas of the Carlton Hotel St. Moritz, such as the lobby area with two historic fireplaces on the Bel Etage, are also generously designed and offer guests very different places to relax and enjoy themselves. Above the main entrance of the hotel is a large sun terrace, which can be reached from the bar and lobby and from which the St. Moritz mountain and lake panorama can be enjoyed to the full.

Culinary delights
In the Romanoff Restaurant, on the historic Bel Etage, Culinary Director Max Herzog offers modern interpretations of culinary classics in a refined ambience, while star chefs Enrico and Roberto Cerea, who have been awarded three Michelin stars, offer top-class authentic Italian cuisine in an easy-going atmosphere at the Restaurant Da Vittorio – St. Moritz, which takes you on a culinary journey to Lombardy. In addition, the Carlton Bar & Lobby with its large sun terrace invites you to do sweet nothing – whether at lunchtime with delicious grilled specialities, in the afternoon with the finest tea culture or in the evening with a glass of sparkling champagne.

Beautiful time out
The hotel’s wellness area extends over 1,200 m2 and three floors and has six different treatment rooms where guests can enjoy a variety of massages and cosmetic treatments with a view of the fancy ceiling paintings. On the lowest floor, guests will find the spacious sauna world with steam bath, caldarium, Finnish sauna and a private sauna for ladies. For cooling down after a relaxing sauna session, various experience showers, an ice fountain and a Kneipp path in the snow are available. In addition to state-of-the-art fitness equipment, the house also offers a spacious swimming and sports pool that motivates physical fitness and, as a highlight, the indoor and outdoor relaxation pool, which ensures relaxation in accordance with the temperature.
