The Newcomer in Freiburg – The Alex Hotel
During my stay in Freiburg, I spent two nights at The Alex Hotel, a charming boutique hotel in the heart of Freiburg, located next to the Freiburg’s main train station and the old city.
When you enter The Alex Hotel you immediately feel the coziness. The Alex Hotel offers you a “Modern Black Forest” interior with lots of plate glass, blonde wood, natural materials and a muted palette of colours.
The reception was professional, quick and very friendly. In fact you feel very much like home. The Boutique Hotel is privately run by a third generation and has 39 rooms on 3 floors.
All the rooms are thoughtfully designed with comfort.
Besides contemporary-style rooms with rain showers, there’s a bar, Winery29, where you can try locally produced wines. It features well-chosen wines from the wine growing estates Fritz Keller, Huber, Schlumberger and Schloss Neuweier. Besides there is a spacious lobby adjoining the breakfast room, where you are offered a delicious homemade marmalade from seasonal and regional fruit as well as good choice of products for breakfast.
