A HIDDEN TREASURE IN BRITTANY: DOMAINE DE LOCGUÉNOLÉ

A HIDDEN TREASURE IN BRITTANY

On the way to the Domaine de Locguénolé, you pass through wonderfully green country roads and small villages until you finally reach the hidden jewel of Brittany. Nestling in the heart of more than twenty-five hectares of wooded parkland with a breathtaking view over the Blavet, the 4-star Domaine de Locguénolé, a Relais & Châteaux, welcomes you to a unique setting conducive to peace and serenity.

The very first sight is breathtaking, the domaine, the picturesque view of the sea, a real feast for the eyes, arousing curiosity for more. What will it be like at the Domaine? What will the room look like?

The valet took care of our car when we arrived, we were a little early as the rooms are only available from 4pm. However, this gave us time to get to know one of the 2 restaurants in the house, La Maison Alyette, which is located in the lower part of the building and is also the breakfast area. The refined decoration with a mix of old and new often takes you travelling, including to India… more on that later. For lunch we had pasta with mussels and a glass of Sancerre, there was no better way to start this journey!

After lunch came the good news, the room was already ready, it was around 2.30pm.
We stayed in the Junior Suite Mer with a stunning view of the sea where you could see nothing but the blue sky and clouds when you lay in bed (a bed from India, handmade and out of sculptured wood. And with the window open and the birds singing like spring, you’d think you’d discovered a little treasure…

We had a drink at the bar before dinner, they have an impressive selection of unique liqueurs and cocktails plus the setting is simply dreamy. Dinner at the restaurant was exactly what the restaurant is called: L’inattendu.
The unexpected. An explosion of different ingredients, from fish to meat, the combinations were refined and extremely tasty, one of the best gastronomic addresses far and wide with world class.

We won’t tell you too much about the menu, but we promise you’ll be surprised!

There is something special about this place, something very unique and calming. And so the night there was more relaxing than it had been for a long time. But we hadn’t eaten such a delicious menu for a very long time, which certainly helped. As did the wonderful sunset walk in the forest along the water…

The next day we tried out the Spa Macha, named after the Celtic goddess Macha, protector of horses, is the ultimate place to relax and recharge your batteries. It’s a cocoon nestled in greenery, a true promise of relaxation and serenity, with a host of top-of-the-range facilities. The Spa uses a brand that we love especially, Sothy’s.

We tried the Macha Signature Massage (60 min), this massage, inspired by the traditions of northern India, is a detox and energetic full-body massage designed to harmonise energies. Alternating slow and fast movements have a revitalising effect on the body and mind. Inspired by the north’s Indian traditions, this complet detox and energetic body massage aims at harmonise the body’s energies. The moment by the pool with a tea after the séance was necessary to wake up and to realise that the massage was unfortunately over… But it was simply one of the best moments of the trip.
