Milan Unveiled: Secrets and Piazzas at Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea

Secrets and Squares: Jacopo Ginanneschi & Giuseppe Veneziano Illuminate Milan

Milan has long been a stage for revelations, but this September, Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea turns the city into a theatre of secrets and surreal piazzas. From September 25 to November 8, 2025, the gallery unveils two solo exhibitions—each a universe in itself, each curated by the sharp eye of Ivan Quaroni.

In the main gallery, Jacopo Ginanneschi presents L’ultimo segreto (The Last Secret), a body of work that feels like a whispered revelation. Borrowing its title from Montale’s I limoni, the exhibition is less about answers than about pauses—the kind of silence where something profound reveals itself. His canvases unfold slowly, demanding a contemplative gaze. Medieval Tuscan echoes, Renaissance solemnity, and the uncanny charge of Magic Realism converge in paintings that are both archaic and utterly contemporary. Ginanneschi’s figures and landscapes pulse with an invisible vibration—as if the sacred had momentarily stepped into the light.

Meanwhile, in the Magic Bus project room, Giuseppe Veneziano bends time and iconography with Piazze d’Italia. Here, Giorgio de Chirico’s metaphysical piazzas become stages for contemporary icons—Maurizio Cattelan, Pistoletto, Paladino—who slip into the surreal drama of arches, statues, and infinite skies. Veneziano’s canvases read like a postmodern atlas: citation, parody, and reinvention swirl together in a playful yet unsettling dialogue. The result? A set of works that feel like déjà vu, though refracted through the lens of pop culture’s excess and art history’s enigmas.

Together, the two shows form a diptych of revelation and reinvention. Ginanneschi invites us to linger, to listen for the murmur beneath appearances; Veneziano pulls us into a kaleidoscopic carnival of references, where history and now are cheek by jowl.

Milan has always thrived on dualities—sacred and profane, old and new, solemn and playful. This season at Antonio Colombo, those contrasts come alive in the most dazzling way.
