Phillips Hong Kong Jewels Auction: Exceptional Emeralds, Rubies, and Signed Masterpieces Shine in September 2025

Phillips Hong Kong Jewels: A Symphony of Rarity and Radiance

There are auctions that sparkle. And then there are those that shimmer with such intensity that they transcend the notion of a sale, becoming cultural moments in themselves. On 30 September 2025, in the heart of the West Kowloon Cultural District, Phillips unveils its Hong Kong Jewels Auction—an event poised to seduce the world’s most discerning collectors with treasures of breathtaking rarity.

The Crown Jewel: Emeralds Without Equal

At the heart of the sale is a bracelet that whispers legend: 16.09 carats of Colombian emeralds, untreated, paired with diamonds. Each stone is a window into geological history, untouched by human enhancement, alive with the kind of green that collectors dream of. Its estimate, reaching up to US$513,000, reflects not only its rarity but also its role as the emblem of the season.

A Feast of Color

Color reigns supreme in this curation. Burmese rubies, unheated and glowing with the fabled “pigeon blood” hue, anchor the collection—a 60-carat ruby necklace, a 5.71-carat ruby ring, and earrings of incandescent symmetry are among the highlights. Alongside them, sapphires from Myanmar appear like fragments of night sky: a 20.09-carat sapphire ring signed Cartier and a pair of luminous sapphire earrings, both unheated, both extraordinary.

Signed Masterpieces

The sale also presents an anthology of signed jewels by the maisons that define luxury itself: Harry Winston, with a 5.10-carat emerald-cut diamond ring; Van Cleef & Arpels, with a panther brooch alive in onyx, diamonds, and emeralds; Piaget, offering its romantic Limelight Mediterranean Garden necklace of pearls and diamonds, famously worn by Natalie Portman in Jackie. Tiffany & Co. and Cindy Chao join this chorus with sculptural brilliance, Chao’s Ribbon Collection standing out as wearable art in motion.

The Jadeite Renaissance

Equally captivating is jadeite—green, lavender, pure. Long revered in Chinese culture, jade is experiencing a renaissance among younger collectors. The auction offers a jadeite and diamond cabochon ring of hypnotic depth, and a lavender jadeite demi-parure adorned with rubies and diamonds, its pastel tones aligned with contemporary taste yet timeless in symbolism.

The Miracle of Pearls

And then, there are the pearls. Not cultured, but natural pearls—those miraculous creations of time and sea, formed without human touch. Among the stars is a necklace of perfectly matched natural pearls, round to near-round, each one a triumph of rarity. In a world where such specimens grow ever scarcer, their presence is not only a nod to elegance but to eternity itself.

Beyond the Auction Block

As Diana Chang, Head of Jewels at Phillips Hong Kong, notes, “Our department has seen exponential growth, with last season’s sale rising 55% over the previous year. This September, as we mark the 10th anniversary of Phillips Asia, we offer not only jewels but a reflection of changing tastes across generations.”

The jewels will travel before the hammer falls: first to Bangkok (8–9 September), then Taipei (13–14 September), before returning to Hong Kong for full previews (22–30 September). For those who prefer to bid from afar, an online auction will run from 22 September to 3 October.

This sale is more than an auction—it is a mirror of beauty across cultures, ages, and histories. From Colombian emeralds to Burmese rubies, from jadeite’s cultural poetry to pearls born of patience and saltwater, Phillips Hong Kong Jewels is a celebration of what humanity most adores: rarity, refinement, and radiance.
