Burberry returns to its Original Haymarket Home for Dover Street Market Collaboration

Burberry has collaborated with Dover Street Market to celebrate its new opening on London’s Haymarket, in the building formerly occupied by Burberry for almost 100 years.

A curated collection of 20 original Burberry weatherproof coats has been exclusively restored for Dover Street Market, London, and will be displayed in a custom-built installation from today. The space is inspired by Burberry’s heritage of protection against the elements, featuring mirrored puddles and paper clouds. To celebrate Dover Street Market relocating to Burberry’s former home, Rei Kawakubo will be re-imagining a select number of Burberry weatherproof coats, exclusive to Dover Street Market, London, which will be available later this year. This collaboration also marks the introduction of Burberry collections to Dover Street Market.

About the Burberry at Dover Street Market weatherproof coats: A selection of 20 original weatherproof coats for men and women that have been exclusively restored for Dover Street Market, London. Each will be individually numbered and packaged in customdesigned boxes. The restored weatherproof coats comprise both men’s and women’s double-breasted and single-breasted trench coat styles, and single-breasted raincoats.

About Dover Street Market

The original Dover Street Market (17-18 Dover Street) opened in September 2004 on Dover Street in Mayfair, London, conceived by Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons. The new Dover Street Market in the Haymarket (18-22 Haymarket) opens on 19 March 2016 in a grade two heritage listed building originally opened as a store in 1913 by Thomas Burberry. The new space has five floors, and stands at 31, 384 sq ft. The building exterior remains unchanged. Rei Kawakubo wanted to embrace and enhance the original building and as a result original ceilings, windows, central staircase remain untouched. All Comme des Garçons spaces were designed by Rei Kawakubo. All brands with dedicated spaces were given the freedom to design them as they saw fit. There are three Dover Street Markets, located in London, Ginza (Tokyo) and New York, and one franchise operation in China – I.T Beijing Market.
