Why Everyone Will Be Checking Into Il Capri Hotel This Summer
Il Capri Hotel Is Reinventing La Dolce Vita – And It Might Just Be Capri’s Most Desirable Address
Perched just a few steps from Capri’s iconic Piazzetta, Il Capri Hotel belongs firmly to the latter. It doesn’t try to compete with the island’s grand palaces or polished five-star institutions. Instead, it seduces with something far more compelling – personality.
Hidden inside a 19th-century Neo-Gothic Venetian palazzo, the intimate twenty-room retreat feels less like a hotel than the effortlessly stylish summer home of someone with impeccable taste. It is where mornings begin slowly over espresso, afternoons drift between sun-soaked terraces and sea breezes, and evenings inevitably stretch long after midnight.
For 2026, however, Il Capri isn’t simply reopening. It is reinventing itself.
A Hotel That Feels Like Capri Itself
Created by Graziella Buontempo and Arnaud Lacombe, Il Capri has never been interested in predictable luxury.
Every room tells a story. Antique furniture lives comfortably beside handcrafted pieces woven from sisal, bamboo and linen. Soft pink walls borrow their shades from Capri’s bougainvillea, while deep volcanic reds quietly reference Mount Vesuvius across the bay. Nothing feels staged. Nothing feels excessive.
Even the artwork carries personal meaning.
Many pieces come directly from Graziella Buontempo’s private collection, paying tribute to her aunt – one of Italy’s pioneering art patrons and a celebrated figure on the island. That intimate connection is what gives the hotel its unmistakable character. There is history here, but never nostalgia. Tradition is treated as something alive.
The result feels wonderfully rare.
Authentic.
Capri Finds Its New Wellness Address
This season, Il Capri introduces what may become one of the island’s most exciting wellness destinations.
Replacing the former restaurant, the new Il Capri Athletic Club stretches across 300 square metres overlooking the Gulf of Naples. It is less a gym than a sanctuary designed for modern travellers who seek balance rather than performance.
Sunrise mobility sessions, Pilates, restorative stretching and mindful movement are included for every guest, while immersive retreats led by internationally renowned coaches transform the hotel into a destination for those who travel as much for wellbeing as they do for beautiful scenery.
Luxury, after all, has evolved.
Today, it is no longer measured by excess but by how a place makes you feel long after you’ve returned home.
That philosophy continues inside the hotel’s newly unveiled treatment suite, where a collaboration with Irene Forte Skincare introduces some of the Mediterranean’s most sought-after botanical rituals. Wrapped in natural fibres, tropical greenery and soft architectural curves, the space feels more like a private island residence than a spa.
Volcanic facials, nourishing body rituals and deeply restorative massages transform wellness into something quietly luxurious.
The Rooftop Everyone Will Be Talking About
If mornings belong to wellness, evenings undoubtedly belong to Osteria delle Sirene.
Floating above the rooftops of Capri, surrounded by fragrant Mediterranean plants and endless blue horizons, the new rooftop restaurant instantly feels destined to become one of the island’s most coveted tables.
Forget theatrical fine dining.
This is food with heart.
Developed alongside Neapolitan creative Giotto Calendoli, Osteria delle Sirene celebrates the joyful simplicity of southern Italy. Blue-and-white checked tablecloths, handmade ceramics, warm hospitality and recipes passed from one generation to the next create an atmosphere that feels wonderfully timeless.
Fresh fish arrives directly from local boats. Vegetables travel only a few kilometres from Capri’s terraced gardens. Handmade pasta, generous pizzas and seasonal produce remind guests that the greatest luxury often lies in extraordinary ingredients treated with remarkable restraint.
It is impossible not to linger.
When Capri Refuses to Sleep
As daylight fades, Il Capri reveals yet another personality.
The Lobby Bar flows effortlessly from afternoon aperitivo into late-night cocktails, while downstairs, Rumore offers an entirely different rhythm.
Far removed from Capri’s polished glamour, the underground club embraces electronic music, international DJs and an atmosphere that feels closer to Berlin than the Amalfi Coast. Under the artistic direction of Pascal Moscheni – known for his creative collaborations with Dior and Loewe – Rumore has quietly become one of the island’s most exciting after-dark destinations.
Above it all, the rooftop pool remains reserved exclusively for hotel guests.
Scarlet parasols dance against the blue Tyrrhenian Sea. Spritzes arrive ice-cold. Time slows almost imperceptibly.
Exactly as it should.
The New Capri
There are hotels that follow trends.
Then there are places that quietly redefine them.
Il Capri Hotel doesn’t try to impress with marble lobbies or endless extravagance. Instead, it offers something increasingly difficult to find: authenticity with impeccable taste. A place where design, gastronomy, wellness and nightlife exist naturally under one roof, where every detail feels considered but never overdesigned.
This isn’t simply one of Capri’s most beautiful boutique hotels.
It may well be its most exciting.
