Hotel Hotspot in Bordeaux – The Burdigala MGallery Collection

burdigala-WhatWeAdoreMagazine

Burdigala is a timeless and evocative name – it is the Latin name for Bordeaux

and places the hotel firmly in the city, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2007.

Deep roots for this contemporary hotel perfectly in step with its time…

It was my first time in Bordeaux and our first time at the Hotel Burdigala MGallery Collection, which surprised us in a very nice way. It’s that feeling you get, when entering the hotel. The design is mixed with artdeco flavours and modern taste and comes together to form an urban chic atmosphere.

The classical facade opens onto a contemporary lobby whose graphic lines promise an elegant, polished decoration in a cozy ambiance. Its modern, sober lines contribute to the sensation of space, fluidity and immediate tranquility.

The rooms, they have it all. We were lucky to review one of the 8 junior suites, that were entirely renovated in 2011. It’s all about discreet luxury: styles and materials blend harmoniously, and there is plenty of room… including in the well laid-out wardrobes and luminous bathrooms.

The building, typical of classical Bordeaux architecture with a pale stone porch in the spirit of the 18th century and a definite air of distinction, fits perfectly into the architectural style of the city. Wine, of course, has pride of place in the hotel, whose wine steward orchestrates the most prestigious tastings.

The cellar is full of grands crus certain to appeal to wine-lovers…

The staff of the hotel was extremely friendly and welcoming, we even got a tour and had the chance to see other rooms. They were all really beautiful, chic and cozy at the same time. You suddenly feel like you are at home.

Was it the little cannelé cakes offered when we arrived?

Or was it the upholstered, comfortable big bed with satiny sheets, or the bathroom… that gave us that “IT’S GREAT TO BE HERE” feeling? No idea.

This was the perfect room.

Our bathroom was super spacious with shower & bathtub, decorated with delicate mosaics + they had my favorite products from Carita Paris.

Carita Paris Skin Care Products are based on expertise, femininity, and luxury, making them effective for any need.

Can I move in please?

When we decided to take a walk in Bordeaux the staff of the hotel explained us where to go and what to do. Another great thing: the location of the hotel!

It is in the heart of the city, giving immediate access to shops (I couldn’t help it when I saw Repetto…), walks and delicious restaurants. The whole of the Aquitaine region is also easy to visit: the Arcachon basin and its fine sandy beaches are just a few minutes away by car (see our restaurant review of La Co(0)rniche, a must-do), and some of the most prestigious vineyards in the world (Saint Emilion, Médoc, Graves, Sauternes, etc.) are located just a few kilometers from the hotel.

What else?

THE “JARDIN DE BURDIGALA”

When in Bordeaux, you should also try the restaurant of the hotel.

The statue of Bacchus in the middle of the room sets the tone.

The restaurant has a plentiful menu offering a subtle combination of local products and the finest wines.

Being in Bordeaux means drinking wine, right? Wine-lovers can choose from a large selection of crus classés from the Médoc (classified in 1855), Saint-Emilion and Pomerol vineyards, along with Graves and Sauternes wines. The dishes are of exceptional quality: oysters from the Parc de l’Impératrice Eugénie in Cap Ferret, caviar from the Aquitaine de l’Esturgionnière, Macau artichokes and Le Blayais asparagus, all typical regional products.

What about the breakfast in the morning?

burdigalawhatweadore2

We experienced great service and fresh products all over, it was very satisfying!

You will find freshly baked breads and pastries, traditionally prepared Lot et Garonne preserves, farm eggs and prunes from Agen will delight the most demanding palate.
