Hotspot in Soho, NYC – Charlie Bird
If you’re looking for some nice surprises, Charlie Bird is the place to be.
First of all, the restaurant is a festival for your senses. As soon as you walk in you start to discover and appreciate the interior design. Second, the music is the coolest ever! You might think they have a D-Jay, as they play the finest 90s Hip Hop. This place is fun and stylish, you can also hang out at the bar and enjoy some great cocktails.
We were very surprised by the Italian inspired menu, everything we ordered was eclectically delicious.
“We are cooking food that is meaningful to us and delicious, and we are careful not to label ourselves. Sure, there are jazz roots in hip hop, graffiti roots in Warhol, Basquiat and Haring, and Italian roots in our space, but overall we hold above all else a deep-seeded ideal to be creative and provide a welcoming place for you all to eat. Charlie Bird means New York.”

The chef brought some delicious Focaccia with olive oil to start…
As appetizers we chose the Farro Salad with roasted Carnival Pumpkin, Pistaccio, Mint & Parmigiano and the Grilled Octopus ‘Saltimbocca’.
Superb! The kitchen knows exactly what they are doing…
The wine they offer is also remarkable, we went for a red one ‘La terasse d’Elise’ from 2013.
The cocktails were tasty and not too strong but not too weak as well, perfect to swing with the hip hop!
As main courses we had the Montauk Cod with Brussels Sprouts, Turnips and Mushrooms, Fresh Spaghetti with Tuscan Duck Ragu & Sage (my favorite), Veal Angolotti with Lemon, Basil & Parmigiano and the Rigatoni Campidanese with Saffron & Suckling Pig Ragu.
The dishes were like poems and the portions were perfect. We were more than surprised about the authentic taste of each dish that left us deeply satisfied.
As dessert we had the ‘Warm Chocolate Sudino with Olive Oil Gelato & Caramelized Rice Krispies’ & Buttermilk Panna Cotta with Mayor Lemon Curd and Citrus…
The perfect finish.
They also offer a nice selection of Booze…
Great Cognac, Grappa, Bourbon, Amaro, etc…
If you made yourself dirty during dinner you can wash your hands with their Aesop soap and pamper your hands with their Aesop lotion afterwards. Love this.
The service was also very good that night, we highly recommend to check out CHARLIE BIRD when in New York.
On our next stop we’ll be back for sure!
