SHA WINS FIVE WORLD SPA AWARDS – AND I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND WHY
SHA has just collected five World Spa Awards for 2026. Having experienced SHA Spain myself, this is one of those occasions when an award announcement feels less like industry news and more like confirmation of something I already knew.
I visited SHA Spain in 2020, and six years later, I still find the experience surprisingly difficult to describe.
Not because there isn’t much to say. Quite the opposite.
SHA has this rare ability to make you feel as though someone has quietly pressed reset – on your body, your mind, your rhythm. There is science behind it, of course, but when you are there, it doesn’t feel clinical. It feels incredibly soft. You almost float from one experience to another: treatments, consultations, movement, nutrition, moments of silence. Nothing feels aggressive or forced, yet somehow, day by day, something shifts. You sleep differently. Think differently. Feel lighter.
It is a gentle experience with remarkably serious intentions.
FIVE AWARDS, TWO DESTINATIONS
At the World Spa Awards 2026, SHA received five distinctions across SHA Spain and SHA Mexico, including awards for its longevity programme, wellness clinic and destinations in Spain, Mexico and Latin America. It comes at an interesting moment. Luxury wellness is moving far beyond the traditional spa model and towards longevity: not simply looking better or escaping for a few days, but understanding how we might actually live better for longer.
SHA has been working in this direction for almost two decades. Its SHA Method® brings together medical science, integrative health, nutrition and lifestyle, with more than 100,000 guests having experienced its programmes. And yet, what I remember most from my own stay isn’t a statistic.
It’s the feeling.
That extraordinary sensation of being completely taken care of while, almost imperceptibly, being brought back to yourself. Now there is SHA Mexico, and SHA Emirates is planned for 2028 at Al Jurf, between Abu Dhabi and Dubai — an entire island conceived around longevity. Six years after my first SHA experience, writing this has made one thing rather clear.
I think it might be time to go back. And this time, perhaps it’s time to discover the new SHA.
Some research, after all, is considerably more pleasant than others.
