Montblanc Auctions Unique Montblanc Ferrari Stilema SP3 At The Ferrari Gala

The one-of-a-kind writing instrument was auctioned at triple its retail price to support Ferrari’s continued charity work in education

New York City, NY, 18th October 2023Montblanc took part in the Ferrari Gala charity auction held at The Shed in New York City. The luxury Maison contributed with a unique edition of the Montblanc Ferrari Stilema SP3 writing instrument, which was auctioned for $100,000 – more than tripling its normal retail price of approx. $30,000.
While the design of the writing instrument followed that of the original Montblanc Ferrari Stilema SP3 writing instrument with its sleek, monolithic outline, this one-of-a-kind edition saw the original red accent color replaced with a striking yellow. The inspiration could be traced back to the Tailor Made Ferrari 812 Competizione, which features custom paintwork of the same shade and references to the bold strokes and hand-drawn sketches of Ferrari Chief Design Officer Flavio Manzoni, together resulting in a fascinating 3-dimensional illusion.
One of just 999 examples to be build, the car was the star item of the evening and eventually closed at an impressive $5.1 million. In total, the charity auction raised $7 million.
Following the auction, 12-time Grammy®-winning artist John Legend took the stage in front of VIP clients and special guests, including Formula 1 drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, director Michael Mann and actors Adam Driver and Nicholas Hoult, as well as Ferrari executives, including CEO Benedetto Vigna, Chief Design Officer Flavio Manzoni and Ferrari Lifestyle Creative Director Rocco Iannone.

The funds raised during the Ferrari Gala charity auction act as a significant contribution to the marque’s long-term commitment to supporting education, which began with Ferrari’s founder who commissioned The Alfredo Ferrari Institute of Higher Education in Maranello exactly 60 years ago. Strongly rooted in its territory and regularly assisting international relief efforts, Ferrari has since championed educational activities with desire to provide students from all walks of life with resources in local communities.
