Paris’ Most Exciting Art Fair Returns to the Chapelle Saint-Louis de la Salpêtrière
OFFSCREEN Paris Returns for Its Fifth Edition with Ana Mendieta as Guest of Honour
Paris’ art calendar welcomes back one of its most compelling events this autumn. From 20 to 25 October 2026, OFFSCREEN Paris returns for its fifth edition, transforming the historic Chapelle Saint-Louis de la Salpêtrière into a destination where contemporary image-making, architecture and curatorial excellence converge.
Since its launch, OFFSCREEN has established itself as one of the capital’s most distinctive fairs, bringing together leading galleries, visionary artists and ambitious installations dedicated to photography, film and moving-image practices. Rather than following the conventions of a traditional art fair, OFFSCREEN offers an immersive exhibition experience where each work enters into dialogue with its architectural surroundings.
This year’s edition pays tribute to the groundbreaking Cuban-American artist Ana Mendieta (1948–1985), whose radical practice continues to shape contemporary artistic discourse. Renowned for dissolving the boundaries between the human body and the natural world, Mendieta created an oeuvre that explored identity, exile, memory and ritual through earth, fire, water and landscape. Her iconic Siluetas remain among the most influential works of late twentieth-century art, while her pioneering experiments with Super 8 film established her as one of the defining voices of performance and moving-image art.
Presented in collaboration with the Estate of Ana Mendieta and Marian Goodman Gallery, the installation at OFFSCREEN Paris coincides with the major retrospective opening at London’s Tate Modern, reaffirming the artist’s enduring international significance.
Equally integral to the experience is the venue itself. Designed in the seventeenth century by Louis Le Vau and completed by Libéral Bruant, the Chapelle Saint-Louis de la Salpêtrière offers a setting where centuries of history meet the most forward-thinking artistic practices of today. Its remarkable architecture reinforces OFFSCREEN’s philosophy: contemporary art is not simply displayed within a space – it is transformed by it.
With an increasingly influential curatorial vision and the support of major partners including Lombard Odier and Dior Parfums, OFFSCREEN Paris continues to distinguish itself as one of the essential cultural highlights of Paris Art Week. More than an exhibition, it is a destination for collectors, curators, institutions and art enthusiasts seeking the conversations that will shape the future of contemporary image-based art.
