PARIS, TRACEY EMIN IS COMING

White Cube brings Tracey Emin to Avenue Matignon for her first solo exhibition at the gallery in Paris – while Art Basel Paris gets Emin, Calder, Morandi, Frankenthaler, Mahama and more. One gallery, two addresses, and a very good reason to clear October.

There are art exhibitions you add to the diary. And then there are those you reorganise the diary around.

This October, White Cube is doing both Paris and Tracey Emin properly.

During Art Basel Paris 2026, the gallery takes over stand B34 at the Grand Palais with an extraordinary dialogue between generations: Tracey Emin, Georg Baselitz, Alexander Calder, Helen Frankenthaler, David Hammons, Ibrahim Mahama, Giorgio Morandi, Francis Picabia, Marguerite Humeau and Louise Giovanelli.

A rather serious concentration of art for one stand.

But the story continues across town.

EMIN AFTER DARK

At White Cube Paris on Avenue Matignon, Tracey Emin gets the room to herself.

Her first solo exhibition at the gallery’s Paris space brings together new paintings and intimate bronze sculptures — raw, physical and unmistakably hers.

Emin has spent a career making private emotions public. Desire, sex, loneliness, ageing, love, the body, heartbreak. Nothing is particularly well behaved.

Which is precisely the point. At Art Basel Paris, her Waiting For A moment of You (2025) depicts a reclining female figure in that visceral, almost feverish language that makes an Emin difficult to simply walk past. And perhaps that is the luxury here: art that still makes you feel something before someone explains what you are supposed to think about it.

Beyond Emin, White Cube has assembled the sort of presentation that rewards wandering.

There are two late gold paintings by Georg Baselitz, among his final large-scale works. Ibrahim Mahama arrives with Nyamuthia as his major Paris exhibition opens at Fondation Cartier. Morandi meets Frankenthaler. Calder meets Picabia and Hammons.

And Turner Prize nominee Marguerite Humeau presents a sculpture called Venus of Planina, A 37-year-old female human has ingested an olm’s brain.

No, I am not shortening the title.

It is too good.

This is exactly how I like Paris during Art Basel: slightly excessive, intellectually dangerous and impossible to fit into one day.
