Old Hollywood elegance met modern restraint as Elle Fanning arrived at the Emmy Awards in a custom Ralph Lauren Collection creation.

Some red-carpet dresses demand attention. Others simply have it.

For the Emmy Awards on September 14 in Los Angeles, Elle Fanning wore a custom Ralph Lauren Collection evening gown, crafted from embroidered silk chiffon in a luminous shade of jade.

The fluid silhouette, delicate embroidery and long, fringed detail brought movement to the gown without overwhelming it. Against the deep blue of the Emmy carpet, the unexpected jade felt particularly fresh – romantic, glamorous and just a little ethereal.

It is precisely the kind of red-carpet dressing Ralph Lauren does so well: timeless without feeling predictable, feminine without becoming overly precious.

And on Elle Fanning, it looked wonderfully effortless.
