LA BIOSTHÉTIQUE LONG HAIR: THE LONG GAME

La Biosthétique takes hair longevity seriously. As someone with very long, fine and naturally dry hair – and a rather unreasonable attachment to keeping it that way – so do I.

I have very long hair and it tends to be dry. Sun, sea, swimming pools, heat, planes, all very good for the soul, slightly less convincing for the last twenty centimetres of your hair. I have used La Biosthétique for years, long before “longevity” became the word appearing on everything from supplements to face creams. And for my hair, it has consistently been one of the brands I trust most.

IT ACTUALLY STARTS WITH THE SCALP

German practicality perhaps, but I have never really believed in miracles in a bottle. Beautiful long hair is mostly about consistency.

I use a lot of scalp products because, ultimately, this is where everything begins. You can put the most luxurious oil in the world on your ends, but if you want hair to continue growing beautifully, taking care of the scalp and roots is just as important.

La Biosthétique’s new Long Hair collection approaches hair in exactly this way. FINE HAIR HAS RULES

My problem with many products for dry hair is that they solve one problem and create another. Yes, the hair feels nourished. It also suddenly weighs approximately three kilograms and has lost any suggestion of movement. Fine, long hair needs moisture and nourishment without being overloaded, which is one of the reasons I have stayed loyal to La Biosthétique. When the balance is right, my hair remains soft, shiny and – very importantly – easy to handle.

THE POST-SUMMER RESCUE

For me, the real test of haircare is September.

After weeks of sun, salt water and heat, my lengths are always noticeably drier. This is when I become much more disciplined about masks, conditioning treatments, oils and scalp care. WHY I KEEP COMING BACK

There are always new beauty launches on my desk. It is one of the lovely occupational hazards of being a journalist.

But there is a difference between testing a product because it is new and buying or using a brand again because you know what it does to your hair.
