How To Feel Like ‘Ich Bin Ein Berliner’ – The HOTEL ZOO BERLIN

Ich Bin Ein Berliner’, Kennedy once said.

But how does it really feel to be a ‘Berliner’?

HOTEL ZOO BERLIN

AN OLD GEM IS POLISHED.

Probably one of the most stylish places we have seen in Berlin. We checked in with the friendly stuff, and we loved that it didn’t take them more than one minute to get the check-in done. Yes, time is precious and Hotel Zoo Berlin understood this perfectly.

The Jewel of Berlin’s Kurfürstendamm from the 1920s to the 1950s shines brightly once again.

Designer Dayna Lee (New York and LA based Powerstudios), has reinvented the hotel without detracting from its’ histroric character. Lee infused the space with some New York flair (we adore) and London townhouse spirit and elegance with lots of attention to details and aesthetics. Built in 1891 as a private residence for an affluent family, the building was converted into an upscale hotel in 1911.

In the 50s it was the VIP hotel of the Berlin International Film Festivals, accommodating many famous stars and celebrities of the time. The high ceilings fit perfectly to the charm of the hotel and the bespoke furniture designed by Danya Lee lend the spacious rooms and suites their unique style.

We especially love the ‘lobby’ which more likely looks like a cozy living room and is very inviting to chill and relax. The seven-meter-high ceiling is crowned by a two-ton handcrafted molding …hotelzooberlin1

The oversized walnut wood doors are majestic, but also the expansive industrial windows and the open fireplace are giving this special atmosphere to the hotel we fell in love with.

Guided up to our room, I had some fun in the elevator with the flash lights, never seen anything like this before… I’m not telling too much here, as we want you do have a little surprise effect when you visit this amazing place.

“This place is excellent, visionary, and elegant.”

Our room was in the second floor with a beautiful view on ‘Kudamm’. It was very hot outside, but the room had a lovely temperature and a wonderful smell with lots of free water bottles and fresh fruits.

The bed was literally big enough for 5 people and so comfortable! As I discovered the spacious bathroom, I jumped on the beauty products by April Aromatics. Too good to be true ? No, not at this place.

Our Deluxe room had a rain shower and underfloor heating, Nespresso coffee and tea, I even found Hotel Zoo nailpolish by USLU Airlines cosmetics in the mini bar (special Edition), what a happy place. Hotel Zoo Berlin knows absolutely what women need. The slippers are by Maison Martin Margiela and then, I don’t know why, we spent so much time on our room as we had no point to leave. Happy relaxing moments all over.

Actually we just went down to eat and drink at the amazing ‘GRACE’ bar restaurant, don’t worry there is a full review following about this one. Fasten your seat belts.

Interior design is a big word at the Hotel Zoo Berlin, and so it was also at the Grace. Lovely waiters, delicious cocktails and innovative cuisine with asian influences.

Not to forget: the rooftop.

As we love roofin’ around the world, the Hotel Zoo Berlin has one of the most spectacular rooftop terraces in the city, we suggest this place as the hottest in Berlin. It’s literally ‘the Cherry on the top’.

This oasis of peace is another stroke of genius from the American interior designer Dayna Lee. Completing the hotel’s portfolio of glamorous venues, the rooftop provides a bar and a lounge area accommodating up to 100 guests. The view from the terrace boast a stunning 270-degree panorama of the Berlin cityscape with the Southwest exposure allowing spectacular sunset views. An open fireplace and a waterfall dancing under a vegetated rim complete the settings, creating a parallel universe away from the buzz of the city.

You can relax on beautiful teakwood loungers and enjoy a drink or two while facing the breathtaking sight. BBQs are organized upon request to enjoy a great dinner on the top of Berlin.

Well, you can imagine we had a blast and can’t wait to return there for some great sleep, food or cockatils. Our stay did not miss a thing, it was perfect. That’s why we suggest you to experience this place asap. Especially the rooftop is a must in summer…

Thank you for having us!
